     Edmund Hepple Almond was born on 3 April 1879 in Sunderland, Durham, England.1,3 He was the son of Joseph Almond.2 He married Margaret Haydon, daughter of Robert Haydon and Eliza Hazel Greethead, on 12 July 1898 in The Register Office, Stockton on Tees, Durham, England, after a certificate had been issued. The ceremony was witnessed by John White and Cecilia Davies. Edmund was a labourer in the iron works and appears to have fibbed about his age. The certificate states he was 21 yyears old whereas he was only nineteen years old. Both Margaret and Edmund gave their address as 9 Seaham Street, Stockton on Tees.1,4 Edmund was listed as head of household in the census of 31 March 1901 in 19 Gas Street, West Hartlepool, Durham, England, Edmund was a forge labourer.5 Edmund was listed as head of household in the census of 2 April 1911 in 45 Garrick Street, South Shields, Durham, England, Edmund was an electric tramway ticket inspector living with his wife and children in their three roomed home.6 His wife Margaret died on July 1958 in South Shields, Durham, England, aged 83.7,1 He died on 19 March 1968 in Australia aged 88.1
