     Mabel Turk was born on 20 January 1882 in Barton Regis, Gloucestershire, England.1 She married William George Head, son of William Thomas Head and Annie Mowbray, on 8 June 1908 in St Mary the Virgin, Shalford, Surrey, England, after the banns were read. The ceremony was witnessed by James Wallace Head and Lily Hotchley. William was a blacksmith living in Ryde Isle of Wight. His father William Thomas Head was a tanner. Mabel's father William Turk was a coachman and deceased.2 She was the wife of William George Head in the 1911 census in 2 Malford Villas, Bondary Road, Newbury, Berkshire, England. William was a general blacksmith living with his wife and surviving daughter with one boarder. It would appear they had two children and one died at birth so may not have even been registered.3 Her husband William died before 1939. On 29 September 1939 in the National Register Mabel was listed as living at 6 St Georges Avenue, Newbury, Berkshire, England, Mabel as a boarding house keeper.4 She died on 3 March 1951 in Coomb Cottage, 38 Sparrow Hill, Coleford, Gloucestershire, England, at age 69.5,6 Her estate was probated on 8 May 1951 in Gloucester to George Puffitt a gardener. Her effects were valued at £322 12s 10d.6
