Mary was an adult aged 20 years old.2 She married James Wallace Head, son of William Thomas Head and Annie Mowbray, on 16 January 1909 in St Mary the Virgin, Shalford, Surrey, England, after the banns had been read. The ceremony was witnessed by William George Head and Alice Edwards. James was a tanner like his father William Thomas Head. Mary's father John Edwards was a labourer.3 There is a lovely picture of the family taken in 1914 at the rear of Shalford Tannery Cottages.4 James was employed in an estate at Albury and later in a tanyard near Bramley until my he lost his job in the late 1920's and had to move West to Exeter to find work.4 On 29 September 1939 in the National Register Mary was listed as living at 48 Park Street, Crediton, Devon, England, with her husband James. James was a general master shopkeeper.5 Her husband James died in 1962 in St Austell, Cornwall, England.6 She died in 1964 in St Austell, Cornwall, England.7

     Arthur Wallace Head was born on 3 July 1910 in Bramley, Surrey, England. He was the son of James Wallace Head and Mary Edwards. He was the son of James Wallace Head in the 1911 census in Arreton, Eastwood Road, Bramley, Surrey, England.1 There is a lovely picture of the family taken in 1914 at the rear of Shalford Tannery Cottages.2 He married Gertrude Mary Hunt in 1935 in Exeter, Devon, England.3 On 29 September 1939 in the National Register Arthur was listed as living at 5 Crownhill Terrace, Crediton, Devon, England, with his wife Gertrude. Arthur was a senior clerk - tithe redemption.4 He died in February 2004 in Devon, England, at age 93.5
