William Henry Gatheridge Parsons was born on 26 September 1881 in Plymouth, Devon, England.1,2 He was the son of William Russell Parsons and Jane Gatheridge. He was the son of William Russell Parsons and Margaret Parsons in the 1891 census in Crapston House, Crapston Terrace, Tavistock, Devon, England.3 It would appear that William added the name Henry when he signed up on 26 May 1900 for 12 years saying he was an errand boy from Plymouth and his birth date was 26 May 1882. He had dark brown hair, hazel eyes and a fresh complexion and about 5 foot three inches tall. He had a heart on his left arm just above the wrist and a scar on his right muscle. There appear to be many anomolies as the records state his first ship was Impregnable from 3 September 1898.4 He appeared in the 1901 census in Devonport, Devon, England. William was a crewman on board the Nile and listed as a signalman.5 He married Susan Ann Reynolds in 1905 in Devonport, Devon, England.6 William came off the Collingwood on 5 May 1910 and was invalided out with chronic Rheum, presumably rheumatism.4 He appeared in the household as a boarder in the 1911 census in Bittaford, Ugborough, Ivybridge, Devon, England. Living with William Hannaford and his family. He was listed as married and working as a clay labourer. His wife Susan was at home in Plymouth with their three children.7 On 29 September 1939 in the National Register William was listed as living at 1 Wheal Kitty Terrace, Truro, Cornwall, England, with his wife Susan. William was working a a stone braker with his wife and son Russell and one other person.8 He died in 1954 in St Agnes, Cornwall, England.9
