     Spencer Reed married Elisabeth ... He was born circa 1912. Spencer became a committed Christian whilst at University. During the war he served as a doctor in the RAF and was posted to Malta. After his demob he joined up with two friends and sailed the Atlantic in a small craft with two friends. In USA they went their separate ways. Spencer crossed the west coast and made his way across he Pacific Ocean. He practised as a doctor on various islands before moving on and finally arrived in Australia.² Spencer learned that leprosy was the scourge of the tropics and as determined to play his part in the fight against the literal rotting of human beings He returned to England, studied for a diploma in Tropical Medicine and then joined up with Leprosy Contol in Indonesia. He was sent to Bali and joined the World Health Organisation and moved to north Thailand continuing his leprosy work. After a while the conditions became yet again too much and he had to leave and this time return to England. He joined up as a GP in a practice in Streatham and worked there for twenty years until his retirement in his seventies.² He died in 1992.¹ He was buried on 31 July 1992 in St John the Baptist, Wonersh, Surrey, England.¹
