Josephine Ann Summers was born on 4 September 1931 in Chertsey, Surrey, England.1,2 She was the daughter of Joseph Summers and Dulcie Jeanette Belcher. She married Robert Batson Richards in 1952 in Surrey, England.3 Her husband Robert died on 3 February 2007 aged 86 dying of a broken heart after his wife's decline. She died three days later from cancer. Josephine died on 6 February 2007 in Devon, England, aged 75 from cancer.4

Joseph Summers was known as Joseph "Mutt" Summers chief test pilot of Vickers and with his brother Maurice were involved with getting the Merlin engine into the P51 aeroplane.1 He was born on 10 March 1904.2 He married Dulcie Jeanette Belcher in 1922 in Sculcoates, Yorkshire, England.3 Mutt was awarded the Commander of the British Empire CBE on 9 January 1946.2 Joseph died on 16 March 1954 aged 50 from complications during colon surgery.2 He was buried in Weybridge, Surrey, England, after a ceremony in Westminster Abbey.4
