In the census of 30 March 1851 at Whickham, Gateshead, Durham, England, he was listed as the son of George Greathead.3 He died in March 1854 in Auckland, Durham, England.4 He was buried in St Thomas Church, Stanley near Crook, Durham, England, under a headstone with his mother and brothers Thomas aged 17, Henry aged 4 and the twins Thomas and Francis who died at birth.5
