He was baptised on 16 November 1831 in Hipswell, Yorkshire, England.2 In the census of 30 March 1851 at Low Beaumont Hills, Whessoe, Darlington, Durham, England, he was listed as a servant to Robert Mears and his family. Robert was a farmer with 400 acres. William worked as an agricultural labourer.3 In the census of 3 April 1881 in Sowber Gate, Newby Wiske, Yorkshire, England, he was listed as a boarder of John Gatenby and family. He was single and employed as an agricultural labourer.4

     William Francis Robinson was born in 1849 in Stockton on Tees, Durham, England.1,2 He was the son of William George Robinson and Elizabeth Ann White.1 In the census of 30 March 1851 at 6 Queen Street, Stockton on Tees, Durham, England, he was listed as the son of William George Robinson.3 In the census of 7 April 1861 in 5 Archer Street, Stranton, Durham, England, he was listed as the son of William George Robinson William was a scholar.4 He married Janet Ann Millar on 17 August 1871 in Hartlepool, Durham, England.1,5 The will of William George Robinson was proved by William Francis Robinson his son on 8 April 1879 who lived at 44 Hampton Road, Stockton on Tees and was a timber measurer.6 William was listed as the head of the family on the census of 3 April 1881 in 46 Hampton Road, Stockton on Tees, Durham, England, William was a railway clerk living with his wife and children.7 He died in 1890 in Stockton on Tees, Durham, England.1,8
