     Herbert Godfrey Banham was born on 14 February 1907 in Royston, Hertfordshire, England.1,2,3 He was the son of Harold Francis John Banham and Edith Alice Boulton.1 In the census of 2 April 1911 in Royston Grove, Royston, Hertfordshire, England, he was listed as the son of Harold Francis John Banham.4 Herbert read the first lesson in the first radio broadcast of the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols , Christmas Eve 1921.5 He married Gladys Joan Donnelly on 20 December 1941 in Bangalore, Karnataka, India, Gladys was the elder daughter of Mr and Mrs Ivon A Donnelly of Shanghai.6 Herbert arrived on 10 March 1947 in Southampton on board SS Strathnaver from Bombay in India. He gave hs address in England as Salterns, Birdham, Chichester, Sussex. He was a banker.7 Herbert died on 17 June 1996 in Uckfield, Sussex, England, aged 89.8
