     Joseph Nicholson was baptised on 15 August 1762 in Catterick, Yorkshire, England, it is believed he is the illigitimate son of Mary.2 He married Ann Greathead, daughter of John Greathead and Ann Turner, on 28 March 1780 in Coniscliffe, Durham, England, Joseph and Anne were both of this Parish. The ceremony was witnessed by Wm Pomfret and John Myers who was possibly the Parish clerk.1
