He married Margaret Catherine Lucy Smith, daughter of Frederick J Smith and Bessie L Risbridger, in 1955 in Surrey, England.2 His wife Margaret died on 12 January 2008 in Guildford, Surrey, England.3 He died in 2009.4 Two plaques can be found one of the benches on Wonersh Fields dedicated one reads 'In loivng memory of Margaret Childs 1930-2008 Stoolball Chairman Chilworth and Wonersh 1973-2007 and Surrey Ladies 1980-2000'. The ther plaque reads: 'In loving memory of Robert 'Bob' Childs 1928-2009 together again.5'
