The ceremony was witnessed by Daniel Parker and Mary Ann Norwood who signed with a mark. William was an agricultural labourer and his father John Butcher was described as a farmer. Charlotte's father Henry Killick was a gardener. Strangely both William and Charlotte gave their address as Wallington.3,4 He was listed as head of household in the 1851 census in Wonersh Street, Wonersh, Surrey, England. William was a farm labourer living with his wife and children. They had a lodger a widow aged 79 named Sarah Shurlock, she was described as a pauper.5 He was listed as head of household in the 1861 census in Wonersh, Surrey, England. Frederick was a civil engineer and artist.3 He was the son of William Peter Bodkin and Elizabeth Bodkin in the 1881 census in West Hill Place, Pancras, London, England. Frederick was an artist.4 He married Louise Jane Gibson in 1883 in Easthampstead, Berkshire, England, after the banns were read in St Michael in Highgate being Frederick's parish and in Crowthorne in Berkshire for Louise on 4 March, 11 March and 18 March 1883.5,6 He received the probate of the estate of William Peter Bodkin on 22 May 1900.7 He was listed as head of household in the 1901 census in 98 Fellow Road, Hampstead, London, England. Louise Jane Gibson

     Louise Jane Gibson was born in 1865 in Budleigh Salterton, Devon, England.1 She married Frederick Edwin Bodkin, son of William Peter Bodkin and Elizabeth Clowser, in 1883 in Easthampstead, Berkshire, England, after the banns were read in St Michael in Highgate being Frederick's parish and in Crowthorne in Berkshire for Louise on 4 March, 11 March and 18 March 1883.2,3 She was the wife of Frederick Edwin Bodkin in the 1901 census in 98 Fellow Road, Hampstead, London, England. Frederick was a landscape artist and sculptors living with his wife and children, with three servants. The road seemed full of artists and scupltors.4 The family had a home in 1906-7 in West Wittering caled Camacha.5 She was the wife of Frederick Edwin Bodkin in the 1911 census in 2 Riverview Gardens, Barnes, London, England. Frederick was listed as a Company Director, he appears to also have a home in Camada/The Barn/Studio, West Wittering , Chichester in Sussex. Frederick was living with his wife and two of his children and a visitor Agnes M N Beaumont a married lady with no chiildren born in India.6 Her husband Frederick died in 1937 in Paddington, London, England.7 She died on 3 August 1953 in Napsbury Hospital, St Albans, Hertfordshire, England, her usual address was 48 Greenfield Gardens, Cricklewood in London NW2.8,9 Her estate was probated on 26 September 1953 in London to her daughter Kathleen Sarah Bodkin. Her effects were valued at £2,530.9

     Elsie Marian Louise Bodkin was born on 15 February 1884 in Hampstead, London, England, she is registered as Louise.1 She was the daughter of Frederick Edwin Bodkin and Louise Jane Gibson. She was baptised on 2 April 1884 in St Michael, Highgate, London, England, her father was an artist and the family lived in 10 Devonshire Hill in Hampstead.1 She was the daughter of Frederick Edwin Bodkin and Louise Jane Bodkin in the 1901 census in 98 Fellow Road, Hampstead, London, England.2 She was the daughter of Frederick Edwin Bodkin and Louise Jane Bodkin in the 1911 census in 2 Riverview Gardens, Barnes, London, England.3 She died on 30 November 1972 in Flat 10, Riverside, Kingsbridge, Devon, England, at age 88.4,5 Her estate was probated on 13 February 1973 in London. Her effects were valued at £3,180.4

     Dorothy C Benjamin was born circa 1886. She married Gilbert Edwin Bodkin, son of Frederick Edwin Bodkin and Louise Jane Gibson, in 1924 in Marylebone, London, England.1 Gilbert and Dorothy sailed from Southampton on 27 May 1938 on 'Balmoral Castle' bound for South Africa. They gave their address as 3873 Finchley Road NW3, the ships manifest they planned to return to UK.2 Gilbert and Dorothy left Port Said in Egypt on board 'Almanzora' arriving in Southampton on 28 March 1947. They stated they had been resident in Mauritius. Gilbert was a civil servant and gave his address in the UK as c/o Colonial Office, Downing Street in London.3 Gilbert and Dorothy travelled first class on 'Capetown Castle' leaving Southampton on 21 August 1947 bound for South Africa. They gave their address as 48 Greenfield Gardens in London NW2.2
