     William Bright was born in 1777 in Norton Mandeville, Essex, England.1 He married Martha Sprngham in 1802 William was a blacksmith. He and Martha had seven children, John, William, Mary, James, Sarah, Richard and Elizabeth.1

     Sarah Hawley was born about 1850 in Kelloe, Durham, England.1 She married William Milburn, son of William Milburn and ... ..., in 1871 in Durham, England.2 In the census of 2 April 1871 in Houghall, Elvet, Durham, England, she was listed as the boarder William and his new wife Sarah were boarding with the widow Jane Hawley, her son John aged 18 a coalminer and her two other children Harriet aged 16 and Henry aged 12. I am unsure of the relationship between Sarah and Jane. No occupation was listed for William.3 In the census of 3 April 1881 in Danesmoor, Clay Cross, Derbyshire, England, she was listed as the wife of William Milburn.4 In the census of 5 April 1891 in Park House Hotel (Pub), Danesmoor, Clay Lane, Derbyshire, England, she was listed as the wife of William Milburn.5 Her husband William died on 1894 in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, England.1,6 Sarah was listed as head of household in the census of 31 March 1901 in Park House Hotel (Pub), Danesmoor, Clay Cross, Derbyshire, England, Sarah had taken over the role of publican from her husband when he died. She was living with her two younger daughters and father in law.7

     Thomas Moir was born in July 1840 in England. He married Sarah Hawley, daughter of William Hawley and Elizabeth Greenwell, in 1867 in Sunderland, Durham, England.1 Thomas emigrated to America in 1880. His wife and family followed in 183.2 Thomas was listed as the head of the family of on the census of 1 June 1900 in West Earie Street, Hall Bureau, Spring Valley, Illinois, USA, Thomas was described as a contractor and builder.3
