     Charles Alfred Tunley was born about 1863 in Pancras, London, England.1 He was the son of John Richard Tunley and Jane Matilda Wakelin.1 In the census of 2 April 1871 in 16 Andover Road, Hammersmith, London, England, he was listed as the son of John Richard Tunley Charles was a scholar.2 In the census of 2 April 1881 in 19 Andover Road, Hammersmith, London, England, he was listed as the son of Jane Matilda Tunley Charles was a general labourer.3 In the census of 5 April 1891 in 52 Overstone Road, Hammersmith, London, England, he was listed as the son of Jane Matilda Tunley Charles was a zinc worker.4 He married Mary Ann Grace, daughter of David Grace, on 2 January 1892 in St John the Evangelist, Hammersmith, London, England, after the banns had been read. The ceremony was witnessed by David Grace and Louisa Rogers.
