James was an agricultural labourer living with his children and widowed brother.8 He married Sarah Porter, daughter of Richard Lemon, on 1 February 1874 in St John the Baptist, Wonersh, Surrey, England, after the banns had been read. The ceremony was witnessed by Charles Baker and Mary Brood. James like his father William was a labourer like Sarah's father Richard Lemon.4,9 He died in 1893 in Shamley Green, Surrey, England.10 He was buried on 16 December 1893 in Christ Church, Shamley Green, Surrey, England.10
