Marmaduke Allen was born in 1835.¹ He was the son of Marmaduke Allen and Barbara Gill. He was baptized on 2 August 1835.¹ He married Dinah Heward on 3 December 1858 in Barnard Castle Wesleyan Methodist, Barnard Castle, Durham, England, Dinah was described as the daughter of William Hewart mason. She was in fact one of two illegitimate twin daughters born in 1833 to Mary Hewart or HEWARD of Harwood in Teesdale. Mary married William TEWARD mason in 1836.²

Dinah Heward was baptized on 17 March 1833 in Harwood Chapel, Barnard Castle, Durham, England.² She married Marmaduke Allen, son of Marmaduke Allen and Barbara Gill, on 3 December 1858 in Barnard Castle Wesleyan Methodist, Barnard Castle, Durham, England, Dinah was described as the daughter of William Hewart mason. She was in fact one of two illegitimate twin daughters born in 1833 to Mary Hewart or HEWARD of Harwood in Teesdale. Mary married William TEWARD mason in 1836.²

Ellen Box married Richard Gill Allen, son of Marmaduke Allen and Barbara Gill. Ellen was a widow when she married Richard Gill Allen. The boys then moved to the USA with their mother, living in Maine. Their father remained in England with daughter Rosa, as he was too ill to travel. Possibly died during WW1.¹

In the census of 2 April 1871 in Marshall Terrace, Darlington, Durham, England, she was listed as the daughter of Richard Allan Huitson she was a scholar.³ She died on 23 November 1931 aged 71.¹

Edith Gill Huitson was born on 24 January 1871 in Brunswick Street, Darlington, Durham, England.^1,2,3 She was the daughter of Richard Allan Huitson and Eleanor Allen. In the census of 2 April 1871 in Marshall Terrace, Darlington, Durham, England, she was listed as the daughter of Richard Allan Huitson.⁴ In the census of 3 April 1881 in 9 Westwood Terrace, Thornaby, Yorkshire, England, she was listed as the daughter of Richard Allan Huitson [M20].⁵ She married Albert Arthur Blackburn in 1891 in Brunswick Street, Darlington, Durham, England.^3,6 In the census of 5 April 1891 in 139 Lower Dioncombe, Lindthorpe, Yorkshire, England, she was listed as the wife of Albert Arthur Blackburn.⁷ In the census of 31 March 1901 in Thornaby Vale Cottage, Thornaby, Durham, England, she was listed as the wife of Albert Arthur Blackburn.⁸ There is a picture of Edith by her brother Marmaduke's grave.^1,9

She died on 4 September 1948 in 6 Watson Grove, Thornaby, Durham, England, aged 77.¹

Albert Arthur Blackburn was born on 11 August 1868 in Old Eston, Durham, England, He was listed as the son of Edward Blackburn and Elizabeth Stevenson.² He married Edith Gill Huitson, daughter of Richard Allan Huitson and Eleanor Allen, in 1891 in Brunswick Street, Darlington, Durham, England.^2,3 Albert was listed as the head of the family of on the census of 5 April 1891 in 139 Lower Dioncombe, Lindthorpe, Yorkshire, England, Albert was a grocers assistant.⁴ Albert was listed as head of household in the census of 31 March 1901 in Thornaby Vale Cottage, Thornaby, Durham, England, Arthur was a boiler cleaner worker.⁵ He died on 20 July 1955 in 6 Watson Grove, Thornaby, Durham, England, aged 86.²
