His WW1 Personnel file states his date of birth was 29 Juy 1886 and place of birth as Lanchester.^1,2,3 He married Dora Patterson Lamb, daughter of Charles Lamb and Mary Jane Watson, in 1911 in Sedgefield, Durham, England.⁴ Joseph was listed as the head of the family of on the census of 1916 in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, Joseph was listed as a fisherman living with his wife and two daughters.⁵ Joseph's attestaton papers were signed on 4 January 1916 in Canada into the Canadian Overseas Expeditionary Force.³ Joseph died in 1948 in Canada.¹ Joseph was buried in Webster Cemetery, Rocanville, Saskatchewan, Canada.¹
