John O'Hagan was born in Ireland.1 He was the son of John O'Hagan and Mary Ann Gallagher.1 John and Mary and their two children Anne and John arrived in Australia in July 1863 on board the ship the Young Australia. They settled in Maryborough in 1865 staying there for 3 years.1

She was baptised on 11 September 1872 in Christ Church, Lambeth, London, England, with her brotther William, her father was a book keeper and the family was living at 27 Finchley Road Semmore Square.1 In the census of 3 April 1881 in 132 Lorrimore Road, Walworth, London, England, she was listed as the daughter of William Thomas Lewis.3 Ellen died in 1903 in Barton Regis, Gloucestershire, England.4 Ellen was buried on 31 July 1903 in Winterbourne Down, Gloucestershire, England.5
