     Rhoda Elizabeth Gibbons was born in 1869 in Faversham, Kent, England.1,2,3 The 1871 census shows Rhoda, aged 2 was living with her parents at Preston Street, Faversham, Kent. In 1881 on the census Rhoda, aged 12 was living with her grandparents at 82 Burrit Street, Rochester, Kent. In the census taken in 1891 Rhoda, aged 22, was still single, living with her aunt Eliza Phillips at 80 Burritt Street, Rochester, Kent. She is described as a Laundry Maid.1 She married Edward Thomas Cooper, son of Henry Cooper and Mary Sedge, on 30 July 1892 in St Mary of Charity, Faversham, Kent, England, after the banns had been read. The ceremony was witnessed by Charles King and Eliza Ann Gibbons. Both Edward and Rhoda gave their address as 37 Plantation Road, Edward was listed as a labourer.1,4 In the census of 31 March 1901 in 20 Kings Road, Chatham, Kent, England, she was listed as the wife of Edward Thomas Cooper.5 In the census of 2 April 1911 in 53 Queen's Road, Chatham, Kent, England, she was listed as the wife of Edward Thomas Cooper.6 Rhoda died in 1933 in Medway, Kent, England.7

The ceremony was witnessed by Frederick King Cootes and Elizabeth King Cootes. Herbert was described as a labourer. The ceremony was witnessed by Edward Cooper and Annie Elizabeth Louisa Cooper. James Skuse1

     James Skuse was born in 1856 in Cirencester, Gloucestershire, England.1 He was the son of Henry Skuse. The 1861 census had James, aged 8, living with his parents at Gooditch Street, Cirencester, Gloucestershire. In 1871 on the census James, aged 18, single, was still living with his parents at the same time. He was described as a Cabinet Maker. The 1881 census has James, aged 26, single, lodging at 52 Soho St, Reading, Berkshire, he was still working as a Cabinet Maker.1 He married Emma Jane Cooper, daughter of Edward Cooper and Jane Lockyer, on 22 February 1890 in St Bartholomew, Bobbing, Kent, England, after the banns had been read. The ceremony was witnessed by Edward and Frances Cooper. Henry gave his address as Forest Hill, SE and was working as a cabinet maker. Emma was living in Bobbing.1,2 James was listed as the head of the family on the census of 5 April 1891 in 12 Oliver Street, Plumstead, London, England, James was a cabinet maker.3 James was listed as head of household in the census of 31 March 1901 in 35 Warren Road, Croydon, Surrey, England, James was a cabnet maker.4 James was listed as head of household in the census of 2 April 1911 in 35 Warren Road, Croydon, Surrey, England, James was a cabinet maker living with his wife and four of his five children living in their four roomed home.5 James and Emma were living at 35 Warren Road, Croydon, Surrey when they heard the news in 1917 that their son Edward had been killed. Later the following year they were to receive more sad news that their other son William had also been killed in action.6 James died in 1934 in Croydon, Surrey, England.1

     Nellie Jane Skuse was born in 1891 in Plumstead, Kent, England.1 She was the daughter of James Skuse and Emma Jane Cooper.1 In the census of 5 April 1891 in 12 Oliver Street, Plumstead, London, England, she was listed as the daughter of James Skuse.2 In the census of 31 March 1901 in Stickfast Farm, Bobbing, Kent, England, she was listed as the grandaughter of Edward Cooper.3 She married Amos Smart.1 Nellie died in Corfe Caste, Dorset, England.1
