Sarah Bainbridge was born in 1846 in Sherburn, Durham, England.2,3 She was the daughter of Robert Bainbridge.1 She married Isaac Ditchburn, son of William Ditchburn and Jane Greathead, on 10 December 1864 in Register Office, Durham, England, Robert Bainbridge and Thomas Sarsfield witnessed the marriage. Both Isaac and Sarah gave their addresses as Brandon. Isaac was described as a caol miner and signed the register with a X.4,5 In the census of 2 April 1871 in Sunniside, Crook, Durham, England, she was listed as the wife of Isaac Ditchburn.6 Her husband Isaac died on 8 September 1880 in Seaham Colliery, Easington, Durham, England, in the Seaham Colliery Disaster. Upwards of 160 lives were lost in the explosion which occurred about 2.20 a.m.7,4 Sarah was listed as the head of the family of on the census of 3 April 1881 in 18 Mt Pleasant, Seaham, Durham, England, Sarah is listed as an annuitant, her husband having died in the mine disaster the September before.8

Warick Whickner was the son of Warick Whickner and Doris Greathead.1 He was called "Whicky". His spine was burnt at birth by a nurse using a hot water bottle. Even with this disability he wrote radio dramas for the South African Boadcasting Corporation. he taught himself to walk and was an avid reader of books.1
