     Violet Hughes was born in 1906 in Birmingham, Warwickshire, England.1 She was the daughter of Henry Hughes and Amy Greathead. The family lived in Birmingham for most of their lives. As children in Fazely Street (around the corner from Gibb Street) then around Summer Lane (in the Aston area of Birmingham) and eventually in Conybere Street in the Highgate area of the city.1 She married John Charles Bernard Fry in 1926.1 They lived in Highgate initially before moving to Swancote Road living opposite Violet's sister Amy.1 She died in 1996.1

     John Charles Bernard Fry was born in 1904.1 He married Violet Hughes, daughter of Henry Hughes and Amy Greathead, in 1926.1 They lived in Highgate initially before moving to Swancote Road living opposite Violet's sister Amy.1 He died in 1982.1
