     Jack Alaster Haigh was born on 18 February 1911 in Greytown, Nelson, New Zealand.¹ He was the son of James Haigh and Alice Hawke.¹ Jack was educated at Mataura School but had little secondary education due to financial circumstances. He worked at the freezing works at Mataura then became a grocer in Island Bay, Wellington before joining the Air Force. He rose to the rank of Warrent Officer.¹ He married Kathleen Elizabeth Mason on 20 July 1946 in St Aidens, Wellington, New Zealand, they lived at Island Bay for 17 years and then moved to Auckland for six years to be near their daughter.¹ Jack died on 4 May 1979 in Auckland, Nelson, New Zealand, aged 68 from a brain tumour.¹

     Kathleen Elizabeth Mason was born on 6 March 1907 in Christchurch, New Zealand, she was the daughter of James Mason and Henrietta Newby.¹ She married Jack Alaster Haigh, son of James Haigh and Alice Hawke, on 20 July 1946 in St Aidens, Wellington, New Zealand, they lived at Island Bay for 17 years and then moved to Auckland for six years to be near their daughter.¹ Her husband Jack died on 4 May 1979 in Auckland, Nelson, New Zealand, aged 68 from a brain tumour.¹ After Jack died Kit moved to Upper Hutt as Christine and Warwick had moved there.¹ Kathleen died on 25 January 1997 in Home of Compassion, Upper Hutt, New Zealand, aged 89.¹

     Betty Erica Haigh was born on 5 October 1926 in Wellington, New Zealand.¹ She was the daughter of Cecil Hewitt Haigh and Ivy Constance Ward.¹ She married Harold Edgar Cooper on 1 November 1961 in St John, Methodist Church, Levin, New Zealand, Betty was a pharmacist and Harold an Administration Officer in NZR.¹
