     Thomas Hewitt was born on 17 July 1793 in Sedgley, Staffordshire, England.2 He was the son of Robert Hewitt and Martha Bissell.1 He was baptised on 10 March 1800 in Sedgley, Staffordshire, England, with his siblings Martha, Sarah and Hannah. He was described as the second child by a second marriage and his father Robert was a joiner and cabinet maker.2,3 He married Hannah Lowe on 30 October 1816 in St Peter, Wolverhampton, Staffordshire, England.4,5 Thomas was listed as head of household in the census of 30 March 1851 at Sodom, Sedgley, Staffordshire, England, Thomas was a carpenter living with his wife and children.6 Thomas died in 1881 in Dudley, Staffordshire, England.7

He was baptised on 5 February 1777 in Penkridge, Staffordshire, England.2,3 John emigrated to America in 1796 and sent many letters to his brother Robert in England.1 He married Ann Gurnee in New York, New Jersey, USA.2
