In the census of 3 April 1881 in 58 North Side, Half Moon Lane, Tudhoe, Durham, England, he was listed as the son of Philip Aunger.2 In the census of 5 April 1891 in Coffee Pot Row, Trimdon Colliery, Trimdon, Durham, England, he was listed as the son of Thomas Johns Charles was a coal miner.3,4 In the census of 31 March 1901 in Lord Street, Wingate, Durham, England, he was listed as the step son of Thomas Johns Charles was a coal hewer.5 He married Dorothy Grieves Lowery in 1903 in Easington, Durham, England.6 Charles died on 18 April 1942 in 31 Luke Street, Trimdon Station, Durham, England.7 The will of Charles was proved on 25 September 1942 to Dorothy in Durham. His effects were valued at £1,110 17s 2d.8

In the census of 5 April 1891 in Coffee Pot Row, Trimdon Colliery, Trimdon, Durham, England, he was listed as the son of Thomas Johns.2,3 In the census of 31 March 1901 in Lord Street, Wingate, Durham, England, he was listed as the step son of Thomas Johns.4 He married Elizabeth Ann Foster in 1906 in Easington, Durham, England.5 Frederick died on 29 May 1918 of wounds. He was in the Lincoln Regiment 7th Battalion, no 44024 and formerly 13278 East Yorkshire Regiment.6 Frederick was buried on 29 May 1918 in Bagneux British Cemetery, Gezaincourt, France.7

The ceremony was witnessed by Richard White and Margaret Beattie. Thomas was a Collier living in Barn furlong. His father Thomas was dead. Catherine was a widow and worked as a weaver. The ceremony was witnessed by Peter Markey and Margaret Jane Hart. John was a sawyer and his father also named John was a hand loom weaver. Catherine's father Peter was a carter.      John Gavin was born about 1853.2 He married Catherine Markey, daughter of Peter Markey and Elizabeth ..., on 22 December 1878 in St George, Wigan, Lancashire, England, after the banns had beed read.
