He was in the Lincoln Regiment 7th Battalion, no 44024 and formerly 13278 East Yorkshire Regiment.6 Frederick was buried on 29 May 1918 in Bagneux British Cemetery, Gezaincourt, France.7

     John Gavin was born about 1853.2 He married Catherine Markey, daughter of Peter Markey and Elizabeth ..., on 22 December 1878 in St George, Wigan, Lancashire, England, after the banns had beed read. The ceremony was witnessed by Peter Markey and Margaret Jane Hart. John was a sawyer and his father also named John was a hand loom weaver. Catherine's father Peter was a carter.
