She was baptised on 26 February 1804 in Holy Island, Northumberland, England, Bet 1804 - 1826 Holy Island, Northumberland ( Holy Island Parish Registers at Newcastle Library, Baptism Register and Marriage Register) 31 Jan 1842 Hunter Street, Hartlepool (Hartlepool, St Hilda Parish Registers at Durham Record Office, Marriage Register, Son Michael.)1 She married Robert Snowdon, son of Joseph Snowdon and Elizabeth Sharp, on 1 October 1826 in Holy Island, Northumberland, England.1 Her husband Robert died on 8 January 1838 in St Hilda's, Hartlepool, Durham, England, aged 38 by drowning in Hartlepool Bay.
On the grave the inscription reads "Sacred to the memory of Robert Snowden Pilot was drowned in Hartlepool Bay 8 January 1838 aged 35 years and of wife Jemima, his wife who died 26 May 1861 aged 57 years also of Robert and Hannah Snowden who died in infancy, and of son William Snowden, their son who died 4 September 1865. This monument was erected as a token of their affection and esteem by their surviving children. Long will rememberence feel a pang severe and over this grave affection drop a tear." Jemima was listed as the head of the family on the census of 7 June 1841 in Hartlepool, Durham, England, Jemima was listed as a grocer living with her three children.2 Jemima was listed as head of household in the census of 30 March 1851 at Bedford Street, Hartlepool, Durham, England, Jemima was enumerated as a grocer formally a fishermans wife. She was living with two of her children and her niece Margaret Markwell and had five lodgers.3 Jemima was listed as the head of the family on the census of 7 April 1861 in Bedford Street, Hartlepool, Durham, England, Jemima was a grocer living with her grandaughter Margaret Walker.4 Jemima died on 26 May 1861 in Hartlepool, Durham, England, aged 57.5,6 She was buried on 31 May 1861 in St Hilda's, Hartlepool, Durham, England, in Grave 53, on the grave the inscription reads "Sacred to the memory of Robert Snowden Pilot was drowned in Hartlepool Bay 8 January 1838 aged 35 years and of wife Jemima, his wife who died 26 May 1861 aged 57 years also of Robert and Hannah Snowden who died in infancy, and of son William Snowden, their son who died 4 September 1865. This house was apparently sometimes occupied by Snowdons.4 John died in 1885 in Hartlepool, Durham, England.5
