     Robert Brockett was born about 1833 in Whitby, Yorkshire, England.1 He was the son of John Brockett and Susannah Shadforth. In the census of 7 June 1841 in Kiln Yard, Whitby, Yorkshire, England, he was listed as the son of John Brockett.2 In the census of 7 April 1861 he was listed as a sailor as the Master of the ship Eglatine, there were six others listed on board including Robert Brocket aged 28 and listed as cook and seaman.
