Gilbert Charles Frederick Ely was born in 1900.1 He was the son of Thomas Ely and Mary Margaret Emily Greathead. In the census of 31 March 1901 in 21 West Parade Mews, Scarborough, Yorkshire, England, he was listed as the son of Thomas Ely.2 He married Violet Henrietta Soady.3 He died in an RAF crash on 6 March 1940.1,3 He was buried in St Mary, Elloughton Churchyard, Row 3. Grave 9, Elloughton, Yorkshire, England.3
