     John Sparkes was born circa 1778. He was the son of John Sparkes and Mary ... He married Mary Winkworth on 15 August 1803 in St Peter and St Paul, Godalming, Surrey, England, after a licence had been issued. John was from Shalford and Mary from Godalming The ceremony was witnessed by Ann Winkworth and Frederick Winkworth.1 John was left in the will of his brother George written on 5 January 1805 one thousand pounds in trust for his second child (not yet born) on its attaining 21 years.2 John signed his will on 26 August 1811.3 He died circa 1812 in Bramley, Surrey, England. He was buried on 25 November 1812 in Holy Trinity, Bramley, Surrey, England, The register states John of Gosden age 34.4 His estate was probated on 2 December 1812 before the judge by Oath of his brother Henry Sparkes and Uncle Richard Sparkes and George Smallpeice the Executors.3

     George Sparkes was baptised on 26 May 1780 in Holy Trinity, Bramley, Surrey, England, his parents were John and Mary.1 He was the son of John Sparkes and Mary ... George wrote his will on 5 January 1805 and mentions Uncle Richard, Aunt Elizabeth Richards of Leeds in Yorkshire and siblings Frances, Mary (wife of George Smallpiece),John, William, Henry and John, together with maidservant Mary Chandler and his apprentice Anthony Lee.2 He died on 1 June 1805 in Bramley, Surrey, England, at age 25.3 He was buried on 7 June 1805 in Holy Trinity, Bramley, Surrey, England, The register suggests he was from Gosden Hall, Shalford.1 His estate was probated on 30 August 1805 in Canterbury he was a banker and draper.4

     Mary Winkworth Sparkes was born on 4 April 1811 in Bramley, Surrey, England.1 She was the daughter of John Sparkes and Mary Winkworth. She was baptised on 5 May 1811 in St Mary the Virgin, Shalford, Surrey, England, she was the daughter of John and Mary of Gosden Hall.1 She died on 1 December 1820 in Bramley, Surrey, England, at age 9 she was late of Gosden.2 She was buried on 17 December 1820 in Holy Trinity, Bramley, Surrey, England.3 Her estate was probated on 4 August 1869 Letters of administration was issued (well after her death) at teh Principal Registry to William Haydon Smallpeice of Guildford of Guildford as one of the Exors of John Sparkes the brother of the deceased.2
