George Carnac Barnes

     George Carnac Barnes was born on 4 June 1818 in Bombay, India.1 He was baptised on 23 September 1818 in Bombay, India, his parents were George and Harriet Penelope Barnes.1 He married Margaret Diana Chetwynd Stapylton, daughter of Henry Richard Chetwynd Stapylton and Margaret Hammond, on 25 September 1856 in St Marylebone, Westminster, London, England, aftre a licence had been issued. The ceremony was witnessed by HRC Stapylton and Maria Hammond. George was listed as an Esquire and his father George Barnes was a clerk in Holy Orders but deceased. Margaret's father Henry Richard Chetwynd Stapylton as listed as an Esquire.2 He died on 13 May 1861 in Chota Nagpore, Bengal, India, at age 42.3,4 He was buried on 14 May 1861 in Hazarubaugh, Bengal, India.3 His estate was probated on 23 September 1862 at the Principal Registry by his widow Margaret Diana Barnes. His effects were valued at £4,000.4
