Arthur was a labourer on the Sewage Farm.3 Arthur enlisted in Redhill on 19 October 1914 into The Queens, the Royal West Surrey reg no 3296. He had a fresh complexion, his eyes were brown, hair brown and had a chest measurement of 37 inches. He was 5 foot 7 inches tall and weighed 150 lbs. He stated he was a carman. He was recommended for discharge on 20 November 1914 stating Mentally deficient and no longer physically fit for war.4

Walter Burnell Brooks was born on 11 December 1864 in Shadwell, London, England. Walter was a photographer living with hs wife and son.2 He was listed as head of household in the 1911 census in 24 Hindover Road, Seaford, Sussex, England. Walter was an assurance agent iving with his wife and son.3 He died on 19 March 1927 in 24 Hindover Road, Seaford, Sussex, England, at age 62.4 His estate was probated on 21 April 1927 Administration papers were issued to his widow Sarah Ann Brooks in Lewes. His effects were valued at £140 16s.4
