     William Simmonds was baptised on 26 December 1790 in St John the Baptist, Wonersh, Surrey, England.2 He was the son of Moses Simmonds and Sarah Shurlock. He married Sarah Browne on 22 December 1810 in St Martin, Dorking, Surrey, England, after a licence was issued. The ceremony was witnessed by George Tickner and Frank Holiday. William's Parish was St John the Baptist in Wonersh.3,4 William signed his will on 18 June 1834 bequeathing goods and money to his wife and son William.5 He died on 24 December 1838 in Wonersh, Surrey, England, at age 47.6,7 He was buried on 31 December 1838 in St John the Baptist, Wonersh, Surrey, England, in plot 213. William was 40 years School Master and 36 Vestry Clerk of this Parish.6 His estate was probated on 5 January 1839 in the Prerogative Court of Canterbury.8 William and Sarah were buried under the same gravestone.9

     Did Percy sign up? I found a record of a medal of Corporal Percy Simmonds who served with Royal West Surrey T/202096. Since I cannot find any other census records for him after 1891 he may have been serving abroad. All supposition. Percy Simmonds was born in 1883 in Wonersh, Surrey, England.1 He was the son of Albert Edward Simmonds and Rebecca Kemp. He was baptised on 8 April 1883 in St John the Baptist, Wonersh, Surrey, England.2 He was the son of Albert Edward Simmonds and Rebecca Simmonds in the 1891 census in Wonersh Street, Wonersh, Surrey, England.3 Siblings Frank, Percy and Ethel all received their certificates to Wonersh Band of Hope giving a Temperance Pledge on 9 February 1894. When Albert's father William died in March 1894, Albert, Rebecca and their six children moved into Stone Cottage.4 He died on 1 June 1949 in Winfrith, Trafalgar Road, Horsham, Sussex, England.5,6 He was buried on 3 June 1949 in Wonersh and Blackheath Cemetery, Wonersh, Surrey, England, in plot 434 after a service in St John the Baptist, Wonersh.7 His estate was probated on 29 June 1949 to Edith Simmonds a widow in London. Was this his widow? His effects were valued at £2,748 5s 11d.6

He was baptised on 12 April 1885 in St John the Baptist, Wonersh, Surrey, England.2 He was the son of Albert Edward Simmonds and Rebecca Simmonds in the 1891 census in Wonersh Street, Wonersh, Surrey, England.3 When Albert's father William died in March 1894, Albert, Rebecca and their six children moved into Stone Cottage.4 He was the son of Albert Edward Simmonds and Rebecca Simmonds in the 1911 census in Wonersh, Surrey, England. Sydney was a Grocer Manager.5,4 He married Lizzie Merritt in 1915 in Medway, Kent, England.6 It would appear that Sidney lived in the Wonersh Stores up until 1932 and then moved to Ferndale until his death.7 On 29 September 1939 in the National Register Sidney was listed as living at Ferndale, Wonersh Common, Wonersh, Surrey, England, with his wife Lizzie. Sidney was a Landscape Gardener.8 His wife Lizzie died in 1940 in Wonersh, Surrey, England.9 He died on 3 July 1953 in Ferndale, Wonersh Common, Wonersh, Surrey, England, at age 68.10,11 He was buried on 7 July 1953 in Wonersh and Blackheath Cemetery, Wonersh, Surrey, England, in plot 329 after a service in St John the Baptist in Wonersh.10 His estate was probated on 17 August 1953 Administration papers were issued to Frank Simmonds a gentlemans outfitter. His estate was valued at £1,181 8s 1d.11

     Ethel Simmonds was born on 14 January 1887 in Peony Cottage, The Street, Wonersh, Surrey, England, the cottage belonged to her grandfather.1,2 She was the daughter of Albert Edward Simmonds and Rebecca Kemp. She was baptised on 8 May 1887 in St John the Baptist, Wonersh, Surrey, England.3 She was the daughter of Albert Edward Simmonds and Rebecca Simmonds in the 1891 census Wonersh Street, Wonersh, Surrey, England.4 Siblings Frank, Percy and Ethel all received their certificates to Wonersh Band of Hope giving a Temperance Pledge on 9 February 1894. When Albert's father William died in March 1894, Albert, Rebecca and their six children moved into Stone Cottage.5 She was the daughter of Albert Edward Simmonds and Rebecca Simmonds in the 1911 census in Wonersh, Surrey, England. Ethel was an Infant School Teacher in Lawnsmead School teaching 3-7 year olds.6,5 After the First World War numbers in Lawnsmead school fell below the statutory minimum and the school was closed. Miss Ethel Simmonds was moved to Shere school after over 11 years. The Managers of the school, A L Brown, Mary Sudbury, John Sudbury, Margaret Plurusin? H Wheeler and Frank Sparkes signed a letter dated 19 October 1915 saying they were obliged to dispense with her services and placing on record their appreciation of all the excellence of her work, and expressed their high opinion of her gift and success as a teacher.7,8 She appeared on the census of 29 September 1939 in Mitre Cottage, Upper Street, Guildford, Surrey, England, in the household of Jack and Ethel Coldman. She was an elementary school teacher.9 Ethel came to stay for a few days each year in Yew Cottage with her dear Friend May Nash.10 Ethel using the name her nieces called her 'Aunt Tots' sent a card to her niece Sarah Simmonds on 5 September 1958.11 She died in 1973 in Surrey, England.12

Albert was a traveller for a Customer Machine company living with his wife and children, Ernest was 5 months old.4 She was the wife of Albert Henry Simmonds in the 1911 census in 31 Black Horse Lane, Croydon, Surrey, England. Albert was a Secretary to a private Automatic Machine Company living with his wife and son. Their daughter Ethel had died.5 She died in 1935 in Croydon, Surrey, England.6 She was buried on 5 March 1935 in Wonersh and Blackheath Cemetery, Wonersh, Surrey, England, in plot 432 after a service in St John the Baptist in Wonersh.7
