     Graeme Kenneth Hight was born on 11 February 1937 in Kohuratahi, Tarinaki, New Zealand, he was the son of Kenneth David Sanders and Elizabeth Agnes Simmons.^2,3 Graeme was educated at New Plymouth Boys High School then attended Victoria University for 1 year before moving to Massey Agricultural College to study Agricultural Science. He completed is BAgSC in 1959 followed by his Masterate gaining First Class Honours in Agricultural Science. Some postgraduate work at massey followed then in 1962 he moved to Whatawhata Reseach Station.³ He married Dorothy Isobel Wallis, daughter of Douglas Arnold John Wallis and Beatrice Mary Greathead, on 20 October 1962 in Wesleyan Methodist Church, Masterton, Wellington, New Zealand.² Graeme worked initially as a scientist but later became acting superintendent in 1971 and Superintendent in 1973. The position was redesigned as Director in October 1975 which he held until his death. He was a well respected scientistin the sheep and cattle farming industry both in New Zealand and internationally and was postumpously awarded the CP MCMeekan Memorial Award - an award conferred by the New Zealand Society of Animal Production on a person who had made an outstanding contribution to animal production in New Zealand.^2,3 Graeme died on 26 July 1979 in Hamilton, New Zealand, aged 42.^2,3
