     Sarah Briggs was born on 30 July 1842 in Horton, Yorkshire, England.1 She was baptised on 21 May 1843 in St John, Great Horton, Yorkshire, England, her parents were John and Lydia Briggs living in Horton and her father was a weaver.1 She married Francis Whitehead on 22 September 1869 in St Peter, Bradford, Yorkshire, England, after the banns had been read. he ceremony was witnessed by John Briggs and Oliver Whitehead. Francis was a book keeper and his father Jonathan Whitehead was a warehouseman. Sarah's father John Briggs was a manufacturer.2 She was the wife of Francis Whitehead in the census of 3 April 1881 42 West End Terrace, Swinddles Lane, Bowling, Yorkshire, England.3 Her husband Francis died on 13 March 1907 in Heaton Lea, Park Drive, Bradford, Yorkshire, England.4 She received the probate of the estate of Francis Whitehead on 3 December 1907.4 She died on 27 June 1922 in Stoke Lacy, Marple, Cheshire, England, at age 79.4,5 Her estate was probated on 15 November 1922 in London to her daughter Lucy Whitehead a spinster, daughter Annie Smith (wife of Isaac Smith) and daughter Edith Mary Parkyn (wife of Daniel Adamson Parkyn) Her effects were valued at £2,328 18s 9d.4

Annie was married at the same time as her sister Edith. The ceremonies were witnessed by Francis Whitehead, L Paskyn, John Briggs and J Turvill. Isaac was a master worsted spinner like his father in name and coccupation. Their son Percy continued there until at least 1985.2 On 29 September 1939 in the National Register Arthur Lawrence Heighes was listed as living at 4 Lawson Terrace, Barnett Lane, Wonersh, Surrey, England with his parents Arthur was a clerk in a commercial office.3 He died in January 2000 in Surrey, England, at age 75.4

     Arthur Rowland Carpenter was born in 1881 in Lewisham, London, England.1 He married Rose Catherine Christmas on 7 August 1904 in St John the Evangelist, Guildford, Surrey, England, after the banns had been read. The ceremony was witnessed by Robert Alfred Christmas and maud Beatrice Christmas. Arthur was a baker like his father also called Arthur Carpenter. Rose's father William Christmas was a labourer.2,3 Arthur enlisted on 7 November 1916 into the London Regiment as Private 36733 and served with the Northn Regiment and later as 87709 with Labour Corps he was a shorthand typist and lived at 22 Lavendale Road in Forest Hill. He gave his next of kin as Arthur Carpenter 14 Mount Pleasant in Lewisiham. He ws 5 foot 8 inches tall and had a chest measurent of 34 inches.4 He died before 1918 I cannot find his death, he certainly was not among the war dead.
