William Peter Brittain Wessel was born on 6 December 1903 in Birkenhead, Lancashire, England.1 He was the son of Pedro Telesford Wessel and Kathleen Shirley Forwood. Harley Gerald Veasey

Harley Gerald Veasey was born on 29 January 1896 in India.1 He was baptised on 23 April 1896 in Asanol, Bengal, India, his parents were Harley Cyril and Mabel Maud Veasey.1 He appeared in the 1911 census in Haileybury College, Haileybury, Hertfordshire, England. Where he was educated.2 He was commissioned in 5th Battalion The Queen’s Royal Regiment (TF) in May 1915 and joined the 2/5th Battalion. He then joined the 8th (Service) Battalion and served in France and Belgium from April 1916. In October 1918 he was granted a Regular Army Commission in the Regiment. From 1922 to 1925 he was adjutant of the 5th Battalion; he also served in both the 1st and 2nd Battalions.3 During the WWI he had been wounded twice and he like many who served in Africa suffered recurrent bouts of tropical fevers for the rest of his life.3 He married Iris Ethel Morrison on 28 February 1922 in St Mary, Reigate, Surrey, England, after the banns had been read. The ceremony was witnessed by Harley Veasey and William Morrison. Harley was an officer in HM Forces. His father Harley Cyril Veasey was a civil engineer. Iris' father William Percy Morrison was a solicitor.4 Harley, Iris and their two daughters sailed from London second class to Malta bound for Bombay on 12 September 1930 on board the ship Kaisar-I-Hind. They gave their address in the UK as The Crossways, Old Town, Bexhill on Sea in Sussex.5 In 1939 he was with the 2nd Battalion in Palestine when he was awarded the DSO for his leadership there. In November 1940 he was posted to command 2nd Battalion The Northern Rhodesian Regiment and in 1943 was promoted to command the 28th (East African) Infantry Brigade. On his return to UK he commanded the 1/7th Battalion from December 1944 to January 1946 when the Battalion was disbanded. After that he commanded the Primary Training Centre (PTC) at Maidstone and finally the PTC at Guildford.3 In September Harley retired and happily lived at Woodhill Cottage with his wife. Their daughter Erica was listed as living with them.3 He died on 4 October 1982 in Woodhill Cottage, Shamley Green, Surrey, England, at age 86.6 He was buried on 8 October 1982 in Christ Church, Shamley Green, Surrey, England.7 His estate was probated on 15 November 1982 in Winchester. His effects were valued at £17,434.6
