     Mary Thayres was born circa 1790 in Wonersh, Surrey, England. She was baptised on 6 February 1791 in St John the Baptist, Wonersh, Surrey, England.1 She was the daughter of James Thayres and Mary Punter. She married Edward Callingham, son of Edward Callingham and Mary ..., on 2 May 1811 in St John the Baptist, Wonersh, Surrey, England, after the banns had been read.2 She was the wife of Edward Callingham in the 1851 census in Shamley Green, Surrey, England. Edward was a bricklayer living with his wfe and daughter Mary next door to his sister Ann.3 She died in 1855 in Wonersh, Surrey, England, aged 64. She was buried on 7 December 1855 in St John the Baptist, Wonersh, Surrey, England.1

James Edwards

     James Edwards was born in 1855 in Blackheath, Surrey, England.1 He was the son of Charles Edwards and Harriett Smithers. He was the son of Charles Edwards and Harriett Edwards in the 1861 census in Blackheath, Surrey, England.2 He was a son of Charles Edwards and Harriett Smithers in the 1871 census in Volunteer Inn, Blackheath, Surrey, England.3 James enlisted in 1874 into 50 Brigade with regimental number 427. He was just 18years old. 5 foot 7 inches tall, with a fresh complxion, grey eyes and brown hair.4,5 James served at home 10 October 1874 - 27 October 1876 Then in India 28 October 1876 to 25 January 1888. He returned home 26 January 1888 - 15 October 1895. He was discharged on 15 October 1895 after his second period of limited engagement.5 James said on his enlistment papers that his brother Charles aged 22 was in the Rifel Brigade.5 James received the good conduct medal on 1 January 884.5 He married Sarah Ann Wingham on 25 February 1889 in Farncombe, Surrey, England, NB James was brother in law of his boarder in 1901 and 1911 Mary West.5 His wife Sarah died on 11 October 1891.5 He was listed as head of household in the 1901 census in The Common, Wonersh, Surrey, England. James was a rural postman with two boarders, Mary West and her daughter Mary West.6 He was listed as head of household in the 1911 census in 2 Lawson Terrace, Barnett Lane, Wonersh, Surrey, England. James is described as an army pensioner and postman. He still has Mary West and her daughter Mary living with him. Also a Harold John West and Alfred Goddard are boarding with them.7 He died in 1919 in Blackheath, Surrey, England. He was buried on 8 March 1919 in Wonersh and Blackheath Cemetery, Wonersh, Surrey, England, in plot 113.8

     Mary Ann Edwards was born circa 1885 in Blackheath, Surrey, England. She was the daughter of George Reuben Edwards and Elizabeth Ives. She was baptised on 8 February 1885 in St John the Baptist, Wonersh, Surrey, England.1 Mary was known as Polly. She was the daughter of George Reuben Edwards and Elizabeth Ives in the 1891 census Blackheath, Surrey, England.2 She was the daughter of George Reuben Edwards and Elizabeth Edwards in the 1901 census in Blackheath, Surrey, England.3 She died circa 1952 in Blackheath, Surrey, England. She was buried on 16 June 1952 in Wonersh and Blackheath Cemetery, Wonersh, Surrey, England, in plot 492.1

     John William A Beasley was born on 7 September 1930 in Chertsey, Surrey, England.1 He married Hilda M Edwards in 1958 in Surrey, England.2 He died on 5 October 2002 in Blackheath, Surrey, England, at age 72.3 He was buried on 11 October 2002 in Wonersh and Blackheath Cemetery, Wonersh, Surrey, England, after cremation in Guildford Crematorium.4

     Kate Hobbs was born circa 1910. She was the daughter of Sidney Harold Hobbs. She married John Edward Payne on 22 April 1935 in St John the Baptist, Wonersh, Surrey, England, after the banns were read. The ceremony was witnessed by Edward Palmer and Alice Lilian Hobbs. John was a painter from Bramley. His father Henry Payne was a domestic servant. Kate's father Sidney Harold Hobbs was a chauffeur.1 She died on 10 June 1988 in 15 Nursery Hill, Shamley Green, Surrey, England.2 Her ashes were buried on 2 July 1988 in Christ Church, Shamley Green, Surrey, England, in plot O16.2

     John Edward Payne was born circa 1902. He married Kate Hobbs, daughter of Sidney Harold Hobbs, on 22 April 1935 in St John the Baptist, Wonersh, Surrey, England, after the banns were read.
