     Alfred Harwood was born circa 1841 in West Chiltington, Sussex, England. He married Mary Ann Greenfield on 10 October 1869 in St John the Baptist, Wonersh, Surrey, England, after the banns were read. the ceremony was witnessed by William Bushby and Sarah Rebecca Burchell. Alfred was a tanner and his father William was a labourer. Mary's father John was also a labourer.1 He was listed as head of household in the 1891 census in 22 Lawnsmead, Wonersh, Surrey, England. Alfred was a tanner living with his wife and sons.2 His wife Mary died in 1895 in Wonersh, Surrey, England.3 He was listed as head of household in the 1901 census in 21 Lawnsmead, Wonersh, Surrey, England. Alfred was a tanner living with his niece Jane Hankins who was housekeeping for him.4 He died in 1910 in Wonersh, Surrey, England.5 He was buried on 29 October 1910 in Wonersh and Blackheath Cemetery, Wonersh, Surrey, England, in plot 485 after a service in St John the Baptist in Wonersh.6
