Edward was an agricultural labourer.3 He married Beatrice Mabel Hotson in 1911 in Hambledon, Surrey, England.4 He was the son of Elizabeth Harbroe in the 1911 census in Mitchells Row, Shalford, Surrey, England. Ernest was a labourer, his future wife was visiting.5 Ernest and Beatrice lived in 6 Oakgate Cottage, Eastwood Road, Bramley, Surrey, England.6,7 Ernest enlisted in Guildford as a Private into the Queens Regiment, Royal West Surrey 6th Battalion no G/22563.8 He died on 1 December 1917 in France at age 31 Ernest was for some reason although he was buried under the name of Private Edwin Harbroe.8,9 He was buried in Gouzeaucourt New British Cemetery, Gouzeaucourt, France, in plot VIII D20.6
