She was baptised on 1 May 1898 in Holy Trinity, Bramley, Surrey, England, her parents were Benjamin and Matilda Hill.2 She was the daughter of Benjamin Hill and Matilda Hill in the 1901 census in Gosden Common, Bramley, Surrey, England.3 She was the daughter of Benjamin Hill and Matilda Hill in the 1911 census in Eastwood Road, Bramley, Surrey, England.4 She married Charles Christopher Smith on 24 August 1918 in Holy Trinity, Bramley, Surrey, England, after a licence had been issued. The ceremony was witnessed by Harry Burnett Hill and Elizabeth Hill. Charles wwas a soldier on active service in R. B. A. His father also named Charles Christopher Smith was a labourer. Kate's father Benjamin Hll was a labourer.5 On 29 September 1939 in the National Register Kate was listed as living at 10 Broad Street, Swindon, Wiltshire, England, with her husband Charles. On 29 September 1939 in the National Register Bernard Henry Charles Hill was listed as living at Melcombe, Eastwood Road, Bramley, Surrey, England, with his parents.2 He married Brenda Joan Sanders on 25 September 1954 in Christ Church, Shamley Green, Surrey, England, after the banns had been read. The ceremony was witnessed by R A Sanders and WGC Hill. Bernard was a GPO telephone engineer living at 64 Eastwood Road in Bramley. His father William George Charles Hill was a maintenance engineer.
