Ronald Butten was born on 10 August 1928 in Southwark, London, England.1 He was the son of Francis Henry Butten and Sarah Cullinane. It is believed that Ronald, Winifred and Patricia were evacuated to Wonersh at the begining of WW2. Ronald stayed with other lads in the Gardeners cottage of Derryswood where as his sisters stayed in the house itself. It would appear from his story that was placed on the BBC website that their time in Wonersh was full of mischief for the boys.2 Ronald sailed on Mooltan following his brother Francis who had sailed out earlier in the year. Ronald left London on 4 October 1950 bound for Adelaide. He was a labourer, age 23 and gave his address as 84 Furser House SW2.3 Ronald lived in 2002-3 in Flat 3 Deneve Avenue, Poole, Dorset, England.4 He died on 27 December 2007 in Poole, Dorset, England, at age 79.5
