He was the son of Thomas John Elwin and Clara Elwin in the 1901 census in Lapscombe Farm, Cranleigh, Surrey, England.2 He was the son of Thomas John Elwin and Clara Elwin in the 1911 census in Willinghurst, Shamley Green, Surrey, England.3 He married Marian Olive Jackson on 21 May 1934 in St John the Evangelist, Stoke, Guildford, Surrey, England, after the banns had been read. he ceremony was witnessed by C Elwin and J S Jackson. Thomas was a baker and confectioner living in Birtley Road in Bramley, his father Thomas John Elwin was also listed as a baker and confectioner. This is a mistake I believe as he died in 1922. Marion was a shorthand typist living in Lynton, Stocton Road in Stoke. Her father John Seabrook jackson was a draper.4 On 29 September 1939 in the National Register Thomas was listed as living at 36 Birtley Road, Bramley, Surrey, England, with his wife Marian. Thomas was a master baker living with his wife, sister and daughter.5
