The ceremony was witnessed by John Jones and Evelyn Hilda Homewood. Leonard was an agricultural worker and ploughman like his father William Lampard.      Albert William Edward Larby was born on 19 November 1883 in West Horsley, Surrey, England.1,2 He was the son of Thomas Larby and Elizabeth Maria Heather. He was the son of John Williams and Elizabeth Maria Williams in the 1901 census in Gibsacre, Pirbright, Surrey, England. Albert was a bricklayers labourer.3 He married Nellie HIll on 2 August 1909 in St John the Baptist, Woking, Surrey, England, after the banns had been read. The ceremony was witnessed by Sam Hockly and Elizabeth Maria Williams. Albert was a gardener, his father Thomas Larby was a laburer. Nellie's ftaher Thomas Hill was also a labourer. The couple gave their address as 12 Sunnyside, Knaphill.4 Albert sailed on Andania from Liverpool arriving in Portland Main on 6 April 1914. He gave his wife, Mrs Larby in Stoke Park as his next of kin and his address in UK as Farm Cottage in Guildford.5 Albert enlisted 30 July 1915 having already spent 254 days in 1st Battalion Essex Regiment being discharged when his time expired. he was alabourer of 5 foot 9 inches tall with a chest easurement of 40 inches, medium complexion, hazel eyes and brown hair. He had a hairy mole on his chin. His mother was Mrs Elizabeth Hill . He was declared fit for the Canadian Over-seas expeditionary force on 1 September 1915.2 Albert's personnel file recorded him as Private Albert William Edward Larbey no 150139 in Canadian Army Medical Corps (CAMC) with an address of 65 Rosebank Cottage, Westfield in Woking Surrey.2 He was discharged on 23 November 1917 from Barnwell Military Hospital in Cambridge having been a admitted as acasualty since 2 November.2 He sprained his ankle in Eastbourne on 8 January 1918 and was admitted to Cherry Hinton Military Hospital in Cambridge on 17 January, being discharged on 20 April 1918.2 Albert enlisted on 5 July 1921 as a cook in Essex Regiment no 6448.6 He died in 1959 in Surrey, England.7

     Louisa Helen Coxe was born on 20 February 1856 in East Indies. She was the daughter of Holled Wallace Henry Coxe and Mary Louisa Cole. She was a lodger in the 1871 census in 12 Camden Crescent, Bath, Somerset, England. With siblings and a Governess and a servant.1 She was the daughter of Holled Wallace Henry Coxe and Mary Louisa Coxe in the 1891 census St Catherines, Epsom Road, Leatherhead, Surrey, England.2 She received the probate of the estate of Mary Louisa Coxe on 20 May 1923.3 Sisters Ethel, Florence and Helen lived in 1929 in Meads, Wonersh Common, Wonersh, Surrey, England.4 By 1938 they were living in Larchwood, Wonersh, Surrey, England.4 On 29 September 1939 in the National Register she was listed as living at Larchwood, Wonersh, Surrey, England, with her sisters Louisa.5 She died on 31 October 1942 in Larchwood, Wonersh, Surrey, England, at age 86 Though it was six years since she and her sisters finally settled in Wonersh, her connection with the parish goes back more than a century as her mother was the eldest of eight children to Rev William Hodgson Cole who was the Vicar of Wonersh for 46 years (1806-1852). Louisa worked for 50 years in the Oxford Mission to Calcutta.6,3,7 She was buried on 4 November 1942 in Wonersh and Blackheath Cemetery, Wonersh, Surrey, England, in plot 882 after a service in St John the Baptist in Wonersh.8 Her estate was probated on 10 December 1942 in Llandudno to Ethel Holled Coxe a spinster. Her effects were valued at £4,747 19s 3d.3

Holled Wallace Henry Coxe

     Holled Wallace Henry Coxe was born on 16 October 1820 in Bangalore, India, His parents went to India, his father as a Chaplain to the East India company but died in May 1820 leaving his wife pregnant with their only son.1 He married Mary Louisa Cole, daughter of William Sibthorpe Cole and Mary Maule, on 8 May 1855 in St Swinthin, Walcot, Somerset, England, after a licence had been taken out. The ceremony was witnessed by Frank St John Balgny, Louisa Susan Cosea, H H Thomas, Mrs S Cole and Elizabeth Anne-Dorshes. Holled was an officer in the Indian Army. His father, Holled Coxe was a clerk as was Mary's father William Sibthorpe Cole. Both Holled and Mary gave their address as 4 Lansdown Crescent.2,3 Holled entered the East Indian Army in 1841, he served in the Gwlior campaign of 1843. As a Captain he was employed in the Expeditionary Force under Brigadier- General Chamberlain against the Mahsood Wuzleerees in 1860 and was present at the actions of Paloseen and Bunrah for which he had a medal with clasp. He retiired in 1874, and the following January he was Gazetted a Major General.1 He was listed as head of household in the 1891 census in St Catherines, Epsom Road, Leatherhead, Surrey, England. Holled was a Major General retired living with his wife, children, three domestic servant and a visitor.4 He died on 24 January 1898 in St Catherine's, Leatherhead, Surrey, England, at age 77.5,6,7 He was buried on 27 January 1898 in St Mary and St Nicholas, Leatherhead, Surrey, England.6 His estate was probated on 18 March 1898 in London to his widow. His effects were valued at £1,332 14s 8d.7

     Henry Reynell Holled Coxe was born circa 1864 in East Indies. He was the son of Holled Wallace Henry Coxe and Mary Louisa Cole. He was a lodger in the 1871 census in 12 Camden Crescent, Bath, Somerset, England. With siblings and a Governess and a servant.1 He married Louise Coralee Barlowe on 18 December 1888 in Bhagulpore, West Bengal, India.2 He died on 9 July 1938 in 1 East Terrace, Budleigh Salterton, Devon, England.3,4 His estate was probated in September 1938 in Exeter to Knightley Holled Coxe a solicitor and Ruth Millicent Beachy Head the wife of Charles William Bachy Head. His effects were valued at £1,133 6s 5d.4

     Millicent Ruth Coxe was born on 31 January 1869 in Lahore, Punjab, East Indies.1 She was the daughter of Holled Wallace Henry Coxe and Mary Louisa Cole. She was baptised on 28 February 1869 in India her parents were Holled Wallace Henry and Mary Louisa Coxe.1 She was a lodger in the 1871 census in 12 Camden Crescent, Bath, Somerset, England. With siblings and a Governess and a servant.2 She appeared in the 1881 census in 14 Markwick Terrace, Hastings, Sussex, England. She was attendng a schoool run by Jane Blunt.3 She appeared in the 1891 census in Marshall Road, Godalming, Surrey, England, and was listed as niece . Of Amelia F Day, a 47 year old widow born in Dover in Kent. Amelia also had on William L H Day aged 13 born in Long Ashton in Somerset living with her. She was apparently living on her own means.4 She appeared in the 1891 census in Marshall Road, Farncombe, Godalming, Surrey, England, and was listed as niece of Amelia Frances Day .4 She married ... Gwyther in 1900. She witnessed the death of ... who died before 1948. She died on 20 June 1948 in 20 Southfields Road, Eastbourne, Sussex, England, at age 79 while living with her sister in law Mrs Coxe, her usual address was Hollyhock Cottage in Shamley Green in Surrey.5,6 She was buried in Shalford Cemetery, Shalford, Surrey, England, along side her husband.7 Her estate was probated on 28 September 1949 to Arthur Holled Gwyther a commander in the Royal Navy and Alfred John Atkins a solicitor. Her effects were valued at £2,696 17s.5

     Mary Louisa Cole was born on 1 December 1835 in Dover, Kent, England.1 She was the daughter of William Sibthorpe Cole and Mary Maule. She was baptised on 20 January 1836 in St Mary, Dover, Kent, England, her parents were William Sibthorpe and Mary Cole.2 She was the daughter of William Sibthorpe Cole and Mary Cole in the 1851 census in The Rectory, Ryther cum Ossendyke, Yorkshire, England.3 She married Holled Wallace Henry Coxe on 8 May 1855 in St Swinthin, Walcot, Somerset, England, after a licence had been taken out. The ceremony was witnessed by Frank St John Balgny, Louisa Susan Cosea, H H Thomas, Mrs S Cole and Elizabeth Anne-Dorshes. Holled was an officer in the Indian Army. His father, Holled Coxe was a clerk as was Mary's father William Sibthorpe Cole. Both Holled and Mary gave their address as 4 Lansdown Crescent.4,5 She was the wife of Holled Wallace Henry Coxe in the 1891 census in St Catherines, Epsom Road, Leatherhead, Surrey, England. Holled was a Major General retired living with his wife, children, three domestic servant and a visitor.6 Her husband Holled died on 24 January 1898 in St Catherine's, Leatherhead, Surrey, England.7,8,9 She received the probate of the estate of Holled Wallace Henry Coxe on 18 March 1898 in London to his widow. His effects were valued at £1,332 14s 8d.9 She was the sister of Henry Maule Cole in the 1911 census in Marden Lodge, Ealing, London, England.      James Edwards was born circa 1796. He married Susannah Strudwick Head on 18 March 1818 in St John the Baptist, Wonersh, Surrey, England, after the banns had been read. The ceremony was witnessed by George and Mary Young.1 His wife Susannah died in 1829 in Wonersh, Surrey, England.2 He married Ann Cobourn on 29 March 1831 in St John the Baptist, Wonersh, Surrey, England, after the banns had been read. The ceremony was witnessed by George Franks and Eliza Edwards.1 He died on 5 January 1844 in Wonersh, Surrey, England, He was found in the water by Bramley lock by Lord Grantley's Head Steward, who had been alerted by James wife that he had not returned home that night. James had been Lord Grantleys Gamekeeper for several years and was considered an active, brave and trusty servant. The Salisbury and Winchester Journal wrote on 13 January 1844 that Ellesley (sic) was armed with a gun and knocked The gamekeeper down nand brutally beat him until he was dead.3,4,5 London Evening Standard - Wednesday 10 January 1844 and The Surrey Agricultural Express of 13 January 1844 reported in the inquest on his death.6 He was buried on 11 January 1844 in St John the Baptist, Wonersh, Surrey, England.2 The Times of 28 March 1844 reported the trial of James Elsey on 23 March 1844 who was convicted of wilful murder and transported for life to Australia from Woolwich, along with 223 others, aboard the Agincourt on 6 July 1844. He arrived at Norfolk Island on 9 November 1844. By all accounts Norfolk Island Penal Colony was a horrifying brutal place and it was closed in 1855, when surviving convicts were sent to Tasmania.7,8,9

The ceremony was witnessed by James Hook and Sarah Hook. James was a widower and worked as a labourer like his father also James Broomfield. Mary Ann's father William Cobourn was also a labourer.1,2 She was the wife of James Broomfield in the 1851 census in Shamley Green, Surrey, England. James was an agricultural labourer living with his wife, step children and children.3 She died in 1861 in Shamley Green, Surrey, England.4 She was buried on 17 September 1861 in Christ Church, Shamley Green, Surrey, England, after a service in St John the Baptist in Wonersh, she was buried under the names of Mary Ann Broomfield.5
