     James William Bartlett was born circa 1880.1 He married Laura Lily Cooke, daughter of Moses Cooke and Elizabeth Slaughter, on 3 August 1914 in St Michael and All Angels, Pirbright, Surrey, England, after the banns had been read. the ceremony was witnessed by Hilda Slaughter and Thomas Wonham. James was a lumbe porter and lived at 11 Sancroft Street in Kensington Cross. His father Walter William Bartlett was a shop assistant. Laura lived at 14 Pirbright Cottages in Pirbright and her father Moses Cooke was a farmer.2

The ceremony was witnessed by Frederick Searle and Rose Cooke. Henry was a greengrocer in Pirbright and his father Abraham a master gardener. Elizabeth was also from Pirbright and her father Frederick was a grocer.1,2 She was the wife of Henry Cooke in the census of 3 April 1881 West Hall Farm, Pirbright, Surrey, England.3 She died on 15 February 1916 in 22 Sanfield Terrace, Guildford, Surrey, England.4,5,6 She was buried on 18 February 1916 in St Andrews, Cobham, Surrey, England.5 Her estate was probated on 8 March 1916 in London to Henry Searle a retired grocer.
