Albert was a steward on board ship.5 Albert enlisted into 16th Bath Company of London Regiment in Queens Hall as a rifleman. He gave his home address as Tangley Hatch in Wonersh. He was 5 foot 8 inches tall with a chest measurement of 36 inches.6 Albert was invalided to England on 7 May 1917 on the hospital ship Minnatonkar. On 13 May 2nd Lieut Ernest Davis DLI was awarded the Military Cross for conspicuous bravery.6,7 He was transferred to 2nd Garrison Battalion Royal Irish Regiment on 25 February 1918. Like his brothers Ernest and Robert he was a member of the Blackheath choir.6,7 He married Rose Mary Sink, daughter of James Sink and Fanny Saunders, on 3 August 1920 in St John the Baptist, Wonersh, Surrey, England, after the banns had been read. The ceremony was witnessed by James Edwin Sink , Edith Lilian Davis and Robert William Davis. Albert was in training for boot making and his father John Davis was a carter. Rose's father James Sink had died but was a blacksmith by trade.8,9

Margaret Emily Davis was born in 1898 in Wonersh, Surrey, England.1,2 She was the daughter of John Davis and Emily Lovering.1 She was baptised on 13 November 1898 in St John the Baptist, Wonersh, Surrey, England.3 She was the daughter of John Davis and Emily Davis in the 1901 census in Littleford Cottages, Shamley Green, Surrey, England.4 She was the daughter of John Davis and Emily Davis in the 1911 census in Littleford, Norcott Farm, Shamley Green, Surrey, England.5 She married Charles Horn, son of William Horn and Matilda Edwards, on 20 December 1924 in St John the Baptist, Wonersh, Surrey, England, after the banns were read. The ceremony was witnessed by Stewart George Davis and William Edwin Horn. Charles was a metal turner and his father William John Horn was a garden labourer. Margaret's father John Davis had died but had been a carter.6 On 29 September 1939 in the National Register Margaret was listed as living at 1 Barnett Villas, Barnett Lane, Wonersh, Surrey, England, with her husband Charles. Charles was an estate labourer on the farm and forrest living with his wife.7 Her husband Charles died in 1974 in 36 Hullmead, Shamley Green, Surrey, England.8 She died in 1982 in Rowland House, Cranleigh, Surrey, England, she had previously lived in Hullmead.8 She was buried on 22 September 1982 in Christ Church, Shamley Green, Surrey, England, in plot K40.8
