     Phyllis Rowland was born on 15 December 1857 in Ockley, Surrey, England. She married Mark Stemp, son of William Stemp and Hannah Butt, on 12 June 1905 in St John, Capel, Surrey, England, after the banns had been read. The ceremony was witnessed by Charles Rowland and Mary Ann Rowland. Mark was a labourer from Grafham and his father William was also a labourer. Phyllis father James Rowland was deceased and had worked as a labourer.1,2 She was the wife of Mark Stemp in the 1911 census in Corner View, Broad Oak, Heathfield, Sussex, England. Mark was a general labourer living with his wife, a laundress, two daughters and Elizabeth Hester Stevens who assisted in the laundry as a laundry maid.3 Her husband Mark died on 14 February 1919 in Corner View, Broad Oak, Heathfield, Sussex, England.4,5 She received the probate of the estate of Mark Stemp on 11 April 1919.5 She received the probate of the estate of Edith Mary Stemp on 27 May 1939.5 On 29 September 1939 in the National Register Phyllis was listed as living at Corner View, Broad Oak, Hailsham, Sussex, England, Phyllis was a laundress, her daughter Elizabeth was living next door with her husband James.6 She died on 3 February 1960 in Corner View, Broad Oak, Heathfield, Sussex, England, at age 102.7,5 Her estate was probated on 27 June 1960 Administration papers were issued to William Henry Stemp an ironmongers employee in Lewes.5

She was the daughter of Mark Stemp and Phyllis Stemp in the 1911 census in Corner View, Broad Oak, Heathfield, Sussex, England.2 She died on 24 February 1939 in Princess Alice Hospital, Eastbourne, Sussex, England, her usual address was Corner View, Broad Oak, Heathfield in Sussex.3,4 Her estate was probated on 27 May 1939 Administration papers were issued to Phyllis Stemp her mother in London. her effects were valued £376.4

She was the daughter of Mark Stemp and Phyllis Stemp in the 1911 census in Corner View, Broad Oak, Heathfield, Sussex, England.2 She married James Henry William Porter in 1932 in Hailsham, Sussex, England.3 On 29 September 1939 in the National Register Elizabeth was listed as living at Sunnydale Bungalow, Hailsham, Sussex, England, with her husband James. James was a general road labourer and ARP Warden. James and Elizabeth were living next door to her mother Phyllis Stemp.4 She witnessed the death of James who died on 13 April 1975 in Lancaster Cottage, Broad Oak, Heathfield, Sussex, England.5,6 She died on 28 December 1978 in Lancaster Cottage, Broad Oak, Heathfield, Sussex, England, at age 69.7,5 Her estate was probated on 8 March 1979 in Brighton.      William Henry Stemp was born on 1 June 1914 in Hailsham, Sussex, England.1 He was the son of Mark Stemp and Phyllis Rowland. On 29 September 1939 in the National Register William Henry Stemp was listed as living at Corner View, Broad Oak, Hailsham, Sussex, England, with his mother William was a general labourer working in an ironmongers shop.2 He received the probate of the estate of Phyllis Stemp on 27 June 1960.3 He received the probate of the estate of Thomas George Stemp on 12 September 1961.3 He died in 2002 in Uckfield, Sussex, England.4

She married Albert George Pullen, son of William Ernest Pullen and Alice Hedger, on 26 July 1919 in St Peter and St Paul, Albury, Surrey, England, after the banns had been read.
