     Nigel Charles Godwin Anston Charteris was born on 15 December 1916 in Kingston upon Thames, Surrey, England.1 He was the son of John Charteris and Noel Emily Beatrice Hodgson. Nigel received his aviator's certificate on 24 February 1937. The test was taken in a DH 60 Gipsy Moth 85 and he was listed as being in HM Forces although the wrong year of birth was stated.2 John, Noel and Nigel were living in 1945.3 He died in 1986 in York, Yorkshire, England.4

     Euan Basil Cyril Charteris was born on 10 March 1920 in Kasauli, India, he was named after his two Uncles who died in WW1. He was the son of John Charteris and Noel Emily Beatrice Hodgson. He died on 3 December 1942 in North Africa at age 22 He was Lieutenant 174279 in the 2nd Battalion, Parachute Regiment AAC. He was awarded the Military Cross.1 He was buried in Massicault War Cemetery, Massicault, Manouba, Tunisia.1

Private Horace Simms 32640 was with the Royal Warwickshire Regiment 16th Battalion. Formerly 20354 i the Dragoons.5,6 He was buried in Tyne Cot Memorial, Zonnebeke, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium, in grave 32640 and his name appears on the Memorial.5

He married Louisa Emily Mansell on 30 June 1915 in St Matthew, Brixton, London, England, after the banns had been read. The ceremony was witnessed by Fred Gurtner and Rose Chipperfield. Frederick was a waiter, he gives his fathers name as Frederick Simms a gardener who had died. Louise's father Walter Mansell as a shopkeeper. They both gave their address as 11a Electric Avenue in Brixton.2,3 Frederick enlisted on 5 June 1916 into the army, giving his occupation as a waiter. He was 5 foot 5 inches tall. he stated he had suffered from influenza 6 months previous.
