     Charles Aubrey Rudolph Flavin was born on 5 November 1893 in Ashford, Kent, England.2 He was the son of Thomas Flavin and Catherine Lambert.1 He was the son of Thomas Flavin and Catherine Flavin in the 1901 census in 2 Robrey Villas, Ashford, Kent, England.3 Charles enlisted in the Royal Army Medical Corps Territorial Force no 1054 on 24 February 1911. He was 5 foot 5½ inches tall with a chest measurement of 35 inches, he weighed 140 lbs.4 He was the son of Thomas Flavin and Catherine Flavin in the 1911 census in 8 Sussex Avenue, Ashford, Kent, England. Charles was a saddler.5 Charles took part in the annual training 1911, 1912, 1913 and 1914 as a Private until 28 July 1915 when he was promoted to Lance Corporal, but reduced to Private on 2 November 1915. He saw service at home until 24 December 1914 when he was posted to France with the Expeditionary Force, leaving on SS Kingstonian embarking in Le Havre returning on 2 February 1915.4 Charles caught influenza and was admitted to field hospital on 12 January 1915 and sent back to England on 2 February1915.4 He was admitted into 4th Northern General Hospital with inflamation of the middle ear and was discharged 26 March 1916 having spent 50 days in hospital.4 He was discharged at the end of his service on 17.3.1916 and re-engaged 10 April 1016 joining the Royal Air Force on 23 May 1916.4,6 He married Gladys Batchelor in 1936 in Leeds, Yorkshire, England.7 He received the probate of the estate of Catherine Lambert on 24 March 1938. On 29 September 1939 in the National Register Charles was listed as living at 85 Adelaide Road, Staines, Middlesex, England, with his wife Gladys. Charles was a saddler and harness maker.8 He died on 24 August 1977 in 43 Gledhow Wood Grove, Leeds, Yorkshire, England, at age 83.9 His estate was probated on 12 October 1977 in Leeds his effects were valued at £6,128.9

He was a civil servant and gave his address as 47 Farnaby Road in Bromley.7 He died on 26 January 1950 in County Hospital, Redhill, Surrey, England, his usual address was 4 Bradmore Way in Coulsdon.8,9 His estate was probated on 25 April 1950 in London to his widow.      Bernard Christopher Innes-Browne was born in 1884 in Birkenhead, Cheshire, England.1,2 He was the son of Martin James Innes-Browne and Jessie Elizabeth Stickney.1 He was the son of Martin James Innes-Browne and Jessie Elizabeth Innes-Browne in the 1891 census in Lundridge Avenue, Bromley, Kent, England.3 He was the son of Martin James Innes-Browne and Jessie Elizabeth Innes-Browne in the 1901 census in 8 Bromley Grove, Beckenham, Kent, England.4 He was listed as head of household in the 1911 census in 31 Lucerne Road, Thornton Heath, Croydon, Surrey, England. Bernard was a clerk accountant living with three other boys.5 Bernard enlisted into 13th Battalion 1st Quebec Regiment as Private 467063.6 He died on 13 June 1916 in France He was reported as missing during the attack at hill 60 Zillebeke and later presumed dead.7,8 He is remembered with honour at Ypres Memorial - Menin Gate.7 Bernard is also remembered in the chapel of St John's Seminary in Wonersh.9

     Patrick Bernard MacHale was born in 1898 in Tottenham, London, England.1,2 He was the son of Patrick Lyons MacHale and Jane Mary Stewart.3 He was the son of Patrick Lyons MacHale and Jane Mary MacHale in the 1901 census in 85 Beresford Road, Tottenham, London, England.4 He was the son of Patrick Lyons MacHale and Jane Mary MacHale in the 1911 census in 54 Adelaide Road, Lewisham, London, England.5 Patrick enlisted in Whitehall into 22nd (County of London) Battalion (The Queens) as Private 698016.6 He died on 30 August 1918 in France.3 He was buried in Combles Communal Cemetery, Picardy, France.7 Patrick's father received a gratuity of £10 6s 10d on 20 December 1918 with a further 7s4d on 30 December and another payment on 1 December 1919 of £10.8 Patrick's name appears on the plaque in the Chapel in St John's Seminary.9 On the back of their father's gravestone it commemorates the deaths of his two sons, John Richard Jarlath MacHale and Patrick Bernard MacHale killed while serving in WW1.10

Patrick was a Journalist living with his wife and children, little Leo was just 3 months old.4 He was listed as head of household in the 1911 census in 54 Adelaide Road, Lewisham, London, England. Patrick was listed as a Corrector of the Press a newspaper proprietor living with his wife, children and three boarders.5 He received the probate of the estate of John Richard Jarlath MacHale on 9 August 1918 Administration papers were issued to his father Patrick in London. His effects were valued at £257 3s 3d.6 Patrick's father received a gratuity of £10 6s 10d on 20 December 1918 with a further 7s4d on 30 December and another payment on 1 December 1919 of £10.7 He died on 21 March 1933 in Epping, Essex, England.8,9 He was buried in St Patrick's Roman Catholic Cemetery, Leytonstone, London, England, His two sons who were killed during WW1 were commemorated on the back of his gravestone.8

     John Richard Jarlath MacHale was born in 1888 in Stoke Newington, London, England.2,3 He was the son of Patrick Lyons MacHale and Jane Mary Stewart.1 He was the son of Patrick Lyons MacHale and Jane Mary MacHale in the 1901 census in 85 Beresford Road, Tottenham, London, England.4 He was the son of Patrick Lyons MacHale and Jane Mary MacHale in the 1911 census in 54 Adelaide Road, Lewisham, London, England. John was a civil service clerk in the Board of Trade.5 He died on 24 March 1918 in France while serving as a Lieutenant in the 19th Bn.The King's (Liverpool Regiment) and his usual address was 39 Ramsden Road in Balham.6 He was buried in Ham British Cemetery, Muille-Villette, France.1 His estate was probated on 9 August 1918 Administration papers were issued to his father Patrick in London.
