Annie was a school teacher for the London County Council.4 Annie arrived in Southampton on 12 April 1926 on board Santos, a Royal Mail Steam Packet ship from Buenos Aires in Argentina.5 Siblings Leo and Annie arrived back in Southampton on 23 August 1930 on board Aquitania from New York. Both were teachers and gave their address as 39 Ramsden Road in Balham.5 Annie travelled on board the ship Bremant leaving Southampton on 8 March 1933 bound for Cherbourg. Her home address at the time was 11 Pretoria Crescent, Chingfold.6 She died in 1965 in Hackney, London, England.7

     John Herbert Pope was born in 1894 in Malta.1,2 He was the son of John James Pope and Margaret Mary ...1 He was the son of Margaret Mary Pope in the 1901 census in Donbury, Kingston Hill, Kingston upon Thames, Surrey, England.3 He was the son of John James Pope and Margaret Mary Pope in the 1911 census in Kingston Barracks, Kingston upon Thames, Surrey, England.4 His medal card suggests he started as a Private then acting Corporal and finally acting Captain. His Regiment number was L/15163. He was posted to France on 30 September 1915. His father Major J Pope of East Surrey Regiment applied for the 1914-15 Star in respect of his late son. on 2 January 1919 giving his address as 55 Lower Kings Road in Kingston upon Thames.5 He died on 11 April 1917 According to Commonwealth Grave site John was the son of Major John James Pope (East Surrey Regiment) and Margaret Mary Pope of 1 Upper Park Road, Kingston upon Thames. It is stated he was a Second Lieutenant in 1st Battalion Royal Irish Fusiliers and died on 11 April 1917 aged 22.1 John is remembered on Athies Communal Cemetery.1
