The ceremony was witnessed by William Welland and Coda Mullard. Edwin was a stickmaker and his father Samuel was a factory clerk. Kate's father David was a carpenter.4 His wife Kate died in 1909 in Hambledon, Surrey, England.5 Following the death of Kate, Edwin went to stay with his parents at Coombe Farm who would have helped look after his children. Mary was listed as Edwin's next of kin when he enlisted into the army.6 He was the son of Samuel Christopher David Welland and Mary Welland in the 1911 census in Coombe Farm, Chiddingfold, Surrey, England. He was five foot fie inches tall with a chest measurement of 35½ inches and weighed 126 pounds. He was employed as a car and lorry driver.6 He died in 1954 in Surrey, England.8

George was a tanner of hides, living with his wife. They had a lodger called Fred Underwood possibly a relation of Frances, whose maiden name was Underwood.
