Martha was a congrove box maker.4 She appeared in the 1861 census in 6 Glennach Terrace, Greenwich, London, England. She was the house servant to George Cructchley and his family.5 She appeared in the 1871 census in 93 High Street, Guildford, Surrey, England. She was a General Servant for John and Ann Moon, her age was listed as 37 years . John was a Timber and Slate Merchant.      Samuel Christopher David Welland was born circa 1845 in Witley, Surrey, England.1 He married Mary Hammond, daughter of Thomas Hammond and Mary ..., in 1872 in Guildford, Surrey, England.1,3 He was listed as head of household in the 1881 census in 14 Lawnsmead, Wonersh, Surrey, England. Samuel was a tanner living with his wife, children and parents in law.4 Following the death of Kate, Edwin went to stay with his parents at Coombe Farm who would have helped look after his children. Mary was listed as Edwin's next of kin when he enlisted into the army.5 He was listed as head of household in the 1911 census in Coombe Farm, Chiddingfold, Surrey, England. Samuel was a factory clerk living with his wife, widowed son and his three grandchildren. Samuel and his wife had five children, all were still alive in 1911.6 He died in 1920 in Hambledon, Surrey, England.7
