He married Mary Ann Hughes, daughter of Dick Hughes and Mary Ann Ware, on 3 November 1888 in Christ Church, Shamley Green, Surrey, England, after the banns had been read. The ceremony was witnessed by James Hughes and Rosanna Hobbs. William was a gardener, his father Charles Stroud was deceased and had been a labourer. Mary Ann's father Dick Hughes was also a labourer. Both William and Mary were from Shamley Green, Mary was also listed as living at Palmers Cross.1

She was baptised on 3 October 1886 in Holy Trinity, Bramley, Surrey, England, his father was a labourer and the family lived in Thorncombe in Bramley.2 She was the daughter of James Hughes in the 1891 census Lox Hill, Hascombe, Surrey, England.3 She was the daughter of James Hughes and Eliza Hughes in the 1901 census in The Hermitage, East Horsley, Surrey, England.4 She married Herbert Ambrose Coppard on 15 April 1912 in Nutfield, Surrey, England, after the banns had been read. The ceremony was witnessed by George Hughes Arthur Coppard and Edith Raggett. Herbert was a labourer living at Peytons Cottages in Nutfield. His father Edward Copppard was a labourer. He was the son of James Hughes in the 1891 census in Lox Hill, Hascombe, Surrey, England.2 He was the son of James Hughes and Eliza Hughes in the 1901 census in The Hermitage, East Horsley, Surrey, England.3 He was the son of James Hughes and Eliza Hammond in the 1911 census in Works Cottage, Nutfield, Surrey, England. Thomas was a laundry man.4,5 He married Mary Wright on 9 November 1918 in St Peter and St Paul, Nutfield, Surrey, England, after a licence had been issued . The ceremony was witnessed by Walter Day, Ethel Huggett and Ada Coppard. Thomas was a gardener from Nutfield. His father James Hughes was a labourer. Mary was from Bletchingley, her father John Wright was a gardener.6 On 29 September 1939 in the National Register Thomas was listed as living at 5 Sackville Cottages, Godstone, Surrey, England, with his wife Mary. Thomas was a car cleaner on his own account.7
